Special Events 2016 Campaign Chairs

Dr. Benjamin and Marian Saks of Hector are the co-chairmen of the 2016 Schuyler County United Way campaign, leading the effort to raise $123,000 to support 24 human service agencies that serve Schuyler County residents.

The campaign will kick off Monday, Oct. 10, with the annual spaghetti dinner at the Montour Moose Lodge in Montour Falls. Serving will start at 5 p.m.
Peggy Scott, Schuyler United Way executive director, said the Saks bring their strong commitment to the community to this year’s campaign.
Ben is in internal medicine at Schuyler Hospital, which is a United Way agency. He serves on the boards of Schuyler Hospital and of the Cayuga Health System, of which Schuyler is a member. He’s also an elected county coroner.
Marian, a structural engineer, is spending her time these days dedicated to their children, Morgan, 3, and Logan, 20 months.
Morgan and Logan spend some of their time at My Place, A Play & Learning Center, which is a United Way agency. Marian serves on the My Place Fund Development Committee. She’s also a member of the Schuyler Health Foundation board and is treasurer for the board of the Montour Falls Memorial Library, which is a United Way agency.
“We’re a small community, and we need a lot of support,” Benjamin said. “The agencies need United Way, and United Way needs our support.”
